We know everyone wants to know when the Leisure Centre is going to re-open and we are working hard to do this, but it will not be for a few more weeks.

The building work that has been continuing throughout the COVID pandemic is nearing completion but is still not fully finished and we have taken the opportunity of the closure to undertake even further refurbishment of the showers and changing rooms.

All this work should be completed by mid August and so we are working on opening to the public in September. We cannot open sooner to the public because of all the preparatory work needed to get the new areas equipped, operational and covid ready for public access and use.

However, many of our regular sports clubs/groups and gym/swim members have asked if they could return before that date, accepting more limited access and that all our normal facilities are not fully available.

We are therefore looking at how we can allow a ‘phased’ return for our regular club bookings and members during August which will allow at least some limited access to our facilities.

We are in contact with our regular block bookings to ensure they can provide us with a Risk Assessment and Member Guidelines to ensure when they come back, they operate within their governing body’s guidelines. Please note that at this stage, indoor football is still not permitted – the FA are working with indoor facility provider in developing appropriate guidance for indoor formats as soon as possible.

In addition, we are looking at how we can provide some ‘member only’ access to both the fitness gym and swimming pool during August on a limited basis, for a reduced months fee. This will require members accepting that showers will not be available and pre booking will be necessary.

Rest assured we want to open as soon as we can but have to ensure this is done safely and within the current guidance. Please be patient and bear with us and keep looking on our web site and on our facebook page for further announcements.
