Penistone & Stocksbridge Coronavirus Helpline
Over recent weeks I’ve been so impressed by the many voluntary groups around our constituency who have risen to the challenge of providing practical support to people who are self-isolating in our communities. Lots of these groups are using Facebook effectively to organise volunteers and provide support to those in need.
However, I’ve been concerned that people who don’t have internet access may struggle to know where to turn to for information advice and support.
So I have set up a freephone helpline for people who are self-isolating and don’t know where to go for help.
The number is 0800 955 4002. And we’re open from 9:30am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. The phone is manned by me and my team.
We’ve received over 100 calls so far, and have been able to offer information and advice alongside access to voluntary organisations providing help with shopping, collecting medicines and even phoning for a chat.
